About
My name is Jason and welcome to my jazz piano teaching website, Jazz Piano Club. I want to tell you a little bit about myself and my musical experience, and below you can see and hear me play the jazz standard, Saturday Night. And the picture is of me performing at Wakefield Jazz Club with the “Sound of ’59” jazz septet in January 2020.
I have been teaching the piano for the past twenty five years. After completing piano grades at school I went on to do a classical music degree, followed by a secondary P.G.C.E and taught music in a secondary school for three years. I then moved to Leeds and completed a one year post graduate course in jazz music at Leeds Music College; a few years later I taught jazz piano at the college on the various BTEC and degree courses.
For the last fifteen years I have been based in the Leeds area working as a full time professional jazz musician playing regularly with the The Mini Big Band, performing recently in Russia and France as well as venues throughout the U.K. This band also supports the Crooners Show which tours British theatres. I also play in the “Sound of 59” septet, playing at various jazz clubs in England; additionally I play solo piano engagements, I play in a jazz trio, accompany singers, and regularly undertake recording sessions in various music studios.
Throughout this time I have always taught piano and have accumulated many teaching resources, from my time at Leeds College of Music, to material I have developed on my own. This teaching experience combined with my current work as a piano player means I feel confident teaching you jazz piano, whatever your level.
Thanks for visiting my website, I hope you feel ready to start learning some jazz piano with me and to become a member of Jazz Piano Club.
If you have any questions about anything please use the contact form from the menu at the top of this page and I’ll hopefully see you soon.
